I’ll be the first to admit that when it comes to beauty products, I am always on the hunt for the new big thing. But as much as I love trying out new products, there are a couple of things in my makeup drawer that I always go back to. And these three amazing drugstore products are amongst them.
The Bourjois happy light foundation has been a staple for me since I got my paws on it about a year ago. It has a beautiful dewy finish but it somehow manages to never look too shiny either. The application is very smooth, especially if you’re using something like this brush. The color match is perfect for me (I got the shade 51) and I find it perfect year round. Another staple from Bourjois is their sweet kiss gloss in #03. Very similar if not identical to the Clarins instant light lip perfectors, the color pay off if more intense than what I originally expected. It makes the lips look a little bit more full all while staying absolutely non sticky. I am not too keen on the little brush applicator since it makes it a bit more difficult to apply on the go, but this is by far the best drugstore gloss I’ve ever tried. Finally, the last product that I wanted to mention is the l’Oréal false lash superstar mascara. I am quite picky when it comes to mascara and I am on a never ending quest to find the perfect one, so when this landed on my doorstep, I was skeptical. I’ve given mascara primers a go before, but I’ve never been wowed by any until this one. Divided into two sections, this mascara tube is full of goodness. The first step -the primer- is as easy as applying your regular mascara except that this one is white. It’s a little bit weird when you peek at your reflection in the mirror, but totally worth it when you apply the second step -the mascara itself- over the top. This duo makes for very long, full lashes while maintaining the curl for hours. It doesn’t crumble or budge through the day and isn’t too hard to remove at night either. All in all, this is just a fabulous mascara.
